Child Haven International is a charity founded in 1985, inspired by the ideals and philosophy of Mahatma Gandhi. They assist needy women and children in terms of education, health, housing and moral support.

There are ten of these institutions. Seven in India, one in Bangladesh, one in Tibet and one in Nepal.

GREEN TARA CHILD HAVEN SCHOOL - Kathmandu

In their home in Kathmandu, founded in 1992, live 160 children who have no parents. They are accepted only with certificate of death of both parents. They have no more room for other orphans, but in case of urgency, if the child has no relatives, they accept him anyway.

Children stay there until the end of grade 10. Some stay much later, until they can be independent.

Ten minutes walk away from home "Child Haven" is located the "Child Haven Green Tara » school, created in 2000 to provide a good education to children living in the orphanage, and more than sixty children from the neighborhood.

In March 2009, Child Haven International, with the help of trained teachers and sponsors from abroad, has opened two 3 to 6 Montessori environments in the Green Tara Child Haven school.

Suva, the main teacher of this class, has been able, thanks to Canadian sponsors, to be trained in Chennai, India, in an AMI (Association Montessori Internationale) training center.

She herself grew up in the Child Haven house, and definitely has all the qualities required to run an excellent Montessori environment.

The environment I visit is perfectly arranged, all the material is beautifully presented, clean and neat.

The children are very independent.

All work with a very good quality of concentration.

An obvious pleasure

And despite the difficulty of their lives, which did not begin well, these children end their school days with a radiant smile.

The dedication of the teachers and Dil, responsible for Child Haven International Nepal, as well as the help of the sponsors, allow these children to receive an education that meets their needs, supports their natural curiosity, thirst for learning and desire to integrate their own culture.

These children earn qualities of independence, self-confidence, self-discipline, academic excellence and cooperation. Foreign aid is the only way for all of this to continue.

Child Haven Green Tara needs funds to go on and buy material, books...
